This week, due to Hurricane Matthew’s path that has been devastating for so many, I decided to leave you with a list of encouraging verses instead of doing a regular blog post. No words I can give can ever bring the comfort that those affected by the storm need right now, but the Lord’s words are more powerful than mine. I hope these verses bring comfort and encouragement, and there is a link at the bottom to help those who have been affected.
Job 5:11 …he sets on high those who are lowly, and those who mourn are lifted to safety.
Psalm 40:11 As for you, O LORD, you will not restrain your mercy from me; your steadfast love and faithfulness will ever preserve me.
Psalm 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Psalm 147:3 He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
Lamentations 3:31-33 For the Lord will not cast off forever, but, though he cause grief, he will have compassion according to the abundance of his steadfast love; for he does not willingly afflict the children of men.
John 16:33 I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.
Romans 8:37-39 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
For those who want to help, here is a great article (https://weather.com/news/news/hurricane-matthew-how-help) from The Weather Channel with organizations to which you can give.
